Automation

"State of the art"

Harry Dieckmann, technical manager with responsibility for automation, believes you should never automate for the sake of automation. A computer will not improve matters if the proper foundations aren't already in place. This position has ensured that Stubbe only digitalised those components requiring automation in recent years. However, treading water is not progress, and that doesn't fit with the "Stubbe mentality", so water purification is now fully automated and operational 24/7. Text messages are sent when there any disruptions and we are able to log-in worldwide to review the situation and intervene. This has led to a "sense of security" and purification can continue without any concerns.

An innovative concept network was rolled by the ICT specialist Steewell in its entirety in 2010. The virtual setup of the network means there is now a terminal client in the offices communicating with a server controlling the operating system. This concept is so reliable that we even introduced virtual servers, so the hardware is no longer of any importance. Now that the hardware and operating platform have been modernised we, at Stubbe, can continue introducing automation to make our processes more efficient, although the question of whether or not to digitalise still remains paramount.
