A sustainable logistics business
What is the relation between sustainability and a logistics business? In general, why are transport companies, in particular, seen as polluters? At Stubbe our vision is quite the opposite; consolidate the good and anticipate on future. Energy sources are limited and we try to use these as efficiently as possible. Some of the items we have and still continuously focus on are:
• A fully impermeable floor on our entire Stubbe site
• A perfect working water purification system
• A collector for our storage tanks in case of leakage
• Focus on a sustainable future also in our personnel, via a good education scheme
With the move from Stubbe to Gouwestroom in 2005 the aspect sustainability has been seriously taken into account. Huge investments were made to manufacture a completely impermeable floor to prevent liquids entering the soil under our site and a perfect working water purification system. This system ensures that all water used while cleaning the tank containers is filtered to above an acceptable level before this is transferred back into the sewer. The last 5 years our purified water has contained less than 20% of the accepted amount of elements in the water before being transferred back to the sewer.
